I bought an airlock for my first time making sauerkraut. The fermentation was so wild that the airlock exploded! LOL who knew bacteria loved cabbage so muchI'll take inspiration from some homebrewers and use a blow off tube

Back in the closet just make sure everything that touches the crout is clean. Top off with a little distilled water if needed. Enjoy

Whoops, nevermind, didn't see that someone else asked already. I may just try it periodically throughout a month to see how I like it. Thanks for posting these videos.

I plan to let it ferment for a month like you but I am so anxious to try it because it is my first try (lol). We'll see how long I can hold out!If I tried it now (8 days) would I put it in the fridge or put it back in the closet for longer?

Sounds good my friend. I let mine go for at least a month. You can start consuming after a week if you like.Cheers

I'm trying this for the first time using a mason jar and regular white cabbage. It's been fermenting for a week so far. Not sure how long to leave it. I want to try red cabbage next and some other veggies like carrots and cucumbers.

You can start eating the kraut after only a week of fermentation. I like to leave for a at least 1 month. It is not necessary to refrigerate the kraut prior to the eating.Putting in the refrig slows down the fermentation to a crawl. I have left it for 6 months in the fridge while consuming. Enjoy my friend. Any questions call me.
